Anyone else out there overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge needed to make a halfway decent piece of art? I know I am - every time I learn something new, I forget something I learned a couple of weeks ago - makes it tough to stay motivated. Oh well, I guess ya just gotta keep drawing, and stuff will click eventually...
Had a little bit of a breakthrough yesterday, thanks to Joe Vriens's 1-hour monster speedpaint tutorial in issue 50 of ImagineFX. It's the first time I speedpainted something that actually turned into a piece of art! Yay! Hopefully this will kickstart my creative juices, and help me to put up more stuff soon... Wish me luck!
Turns out I've been feeling sorry for myself because I can't draw like I used to. Of course, I used to draw at least 2-4 hours a day when I did my best work. Duh! Gotta be more focused. I AM going to learn how to draw on my tablet, and then I WILL learn how to paint digitally. Trial and error has worked for a lot of fantastic deviants - I might as well go that route and hope for the best!
